    AxPact Partner for Belgium Edan Business Solutions Secure Contract with Cappelle Pigments

    logoOver the next two years, pigment manufacturer Cappelle Pigments will be rolling out the ERP solution Microsoft Dynamics AX for Process in its establishments in Belgium, France, China and the United States. To do so the company is joining forces with Belgian-Dutch IT specialist Edan Business Solutions.

    Cappelle Pigments is a well-known manufacturer of pigments for the inks, paints and plastics industry. With production sites in Menen (in Belgium, headquarters), France, China, as well as a commercial site in the United States, Cappelle can be regarded as an international SMB.

    Up to now, the company ran on an internally developed custom application on the AS400 platform, a rather outdated infrastructure that was fast becoming an obstacle to the company’s growth strategy. Guido Vanhalst, CFO at Cappelle: “When we started deploying our establishment in China a year ago, it became quickly clear that our custom application would no longer meet our requirements. We needed a uniform solution with a steep learning curve and an interface the user felt at ease with, such as the Office environment of the Microsoft products. Another issue was continuity, which is always at stake when you run on custom-made software. We knew we needed a standard product. Last but not least, we felt the time was right to review our business processes. Our ERP project had to include a thorough analysis of our processes.”

    Cappelle called in the advice of an independent external consultancy agency, in order to help them select the most suitable solution. Guido Vanhalst: “Following an in-depth selection process, including many large and well-known ERP vendors, we went for Edan Business Solutions and Microsoft Dynamics AX.” Edan’s consistent focus on the process industry and its industry-specific knowhow were important in the decision making process. Vanhalst: “Continuity is key, so it’s quite crucial to pick a partner that is investing in your type of business activity.” When deciding which software to select, a lot of attention was given to the key users, who were very keen on a solution that was easy to use and learn. ”We decided that both Edan and Microsoft Dynamics AX offered the best fit for our type of organization,” concludes Vanhalst.

    Edan is particularly delighted with this assignment.
